The F-18 Hornet is manufactured by McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri. The prime subcontrator is Northrop. The F-18 was developed from a Northrop prototype known as the YF-17. Flown extensively by the US Navy and the US Marine Corps, it is also flown by Canada, Australia and Spain. Flies nearly twice the speed of sound and can climb up to 50,000 ft. Plastic unassembled kit requiring painting and gluing. Skill level is intermediate to advanced.
