An Austrian infantry regiment at the time of the Seven Year's War (1756-63) consisted of 16 fusilier and 2 grenadier companies totaling over 2000 men in all. Whilst the fusiliers represented the regular infantry, the grenadiers, identified by their fur hats, were the selected elite often deployed in the front line as shock troops.
