The second generation Corvette® was an immediate hit with consumers when it was introduced in late 1962. Racers also looked forward to getting their hands on the new car, also known as the Sting Ray®. Besides the gorgeous new body styling, the '62 Vette® also benefited from a new independent rear suspension and a redesigned front suspension and steering system, making it the sweetest handling Corvette® ever. With the addition of the 427 V8, it was a killer at the track, putting notable early Corvette® racers such as Dick Guldstrand, Mark Donahue, Bob Bondurant, and A.J.
