When first introduced in 1964, the ChevelleTM was intended to be a mild-mannered car, Chevy’s® first in the newly created “mid-size” range. It didn’t take long for the gearheads to figure out that a much larger engine would fit between the car’s front fenders and appealed to Chevrolet® for a fix. So, midway through the following year, the new 396 cubic inch engine was available as a limited option in the Z-16 package. 1970 marked the high point in the Chevelle’sTM history as a muscle car, the 396 engine was bored and stroked to achieve 454 cubic inches, it was available in two versions-the LS-5, putting out 365 horsepower and the rare LS-6, which developed an outrageous, frame-twisting 450 ponies. Features: Color molded parts and snap construction eliminates the need for glue or paint, new custom wheels, and Peel and Stick decals.
