There were four basic versions (A-D) of the "medium armoured infantry vehicle Sd.Kfz. 251" that was built from 1940 onwards and served as the basis for 22 different variants made to meet service requirements. One variant was the "Medium Armoured Radio Vehicle Sd.Kfz. 251/3", which was used by the German army and air force during the Second World War. This vehicle was equipped with a variety of wireless equipment and had a frame antenna and a retractable 9 m rod antenna. It had a crew of 7 men who were also provided with an MG.42 with 2010 rounds of ammunition.
