In the steam-era, every loco had to be turned for its next run. While large turntables over 120' long could handle the huge mainline steam engines like 2-8-8-2s, 4-6-6-4s and 4-8-8-4s, most terminals catered only to smaller locos like 4-6-2s, 2-8-0s and 2-8-2s. For these facilities, a 90' turntable was sufficient.
The Built-up 90' Turntable fills the bill for secondary and branch line terminals where smaller engines are serviced. This detailed, layout-ready model has all the features of the larger Modern 130' Turntable including full indexing with 60 programmable positions.
Because of their size, many of these smaller turntables are still used to turn diesels, so this model will look at home on your steam or diesel era layout.
