MiG-15 was a fighter or fighter-bomber (MiG-15SB) of all-metal construction with swept wing and tail. The swept-angle of the wing was 35°, the negative dihedral 2°. On the upper surface of wing there were two aerodynamic 'fences'. The flaps opened 20° by take off and 55° by landing. The ailerons deflection was ± 15. The fuselage was of semi-monocoque all metal construction with a detachable rear part for easy maintenance of the engine. The angle of brake-plates was 55° when opened. The turbojet engine RD-45F of 22,26 kN (or VK-1 of 26,47 kN for MiG-l5bis) had an one-stage turbine and 9 combustion chambers. The jet was of constant diameter.

All armament was placed on a special ´lafetta' and comprised one cannon N-37mm and two NS-23mm. The latter were later replaced by more effective NR-23mm guns. Beneath the wing were six hard points for drop tanks, rocket projectils or bombs. The radio equipment was of OSP-48 system with SRO identification unit.
