PCC stands for President's Conference Committee. These cars were designed in the thirties by leaders of electric railways to apply modern design and technology to public transportation systems in cities around the county.
HO models of the fourteen vintage streamlined PCC streetcars that initiated "F Line" service in September 1995. The F-line operation began along Market Street from the Castro district to the East Bay Terminal. The line became extremely popular, gaining as many native riders as tourists. On March 4, 2000, the line was extended to Fisherman's Wharf via the beautifully renovated Embarcadero. The "F Line" historic streetcar line is currently the most successful vintage rail line, with 20,000+ riders per day.
