The inspiration for this kit initially came from an abandoned slack pile sighted along the highway while on a trip railfanning the one-time Wabash mainline. Further research into the site turned up several interesting photos, which were used as the basis for this kit. Martinsburg is a small town east of Mexico, Missouri. This wooded constructed facility includes a hoist house with attached changing room, headframe with loading house and a tailings trestle. Coal chutes provided for both railcar loading and truck loading.
