Build a little piece of American history . . . with Midwest's Apprentice Series Kits. Midwest's Apprentice Boats are modeled after the original boats used in the 1800s and early 1900s. When you build these boats, you will learn real boat building techniques with different types of hull construction such as lapstrake and strip planking. The hull of each boat is built on a frame, just like the real thing.

Midwest's Apprentice Boats are designed for everyone - from the person with no prior building experience to the experienced modeler. Building a Skill Level 1 or 2 kit helps you develop and learn building techniques. Skill Levels 3 and 4 require a little more experience.

Through the enjoyment of building wooden boat models, you will learn how to use different glues, shape wood, and use paints and sealers to finish your model. You can paint your boat as shown on the box photo, or add your own personal touch to the boat with your own color scheme. Each kit includes pre-cut parts such as frames, keel and deck, that are die-cut for easy assembly. Only Apprentice Series Boats come with the Success Series Construction Manual to assist you building the best possible model.
